Cross-Connection Control

The mission of Orange Vale Water Company is, "To provide the members of the Corporation with a safe and reliable domestic water supply of the highest quality available at the lowest possible cost, and to work together to ensure the protection of the same."

One of the ways we ensure your water is safe is through our Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention program.  A cross-connection is any actual or potential link between our potable (drinkable) water supply and a source of contamination.  Some examples include private irrigation systems, fire sprinklers, and other plumbing systems connected to the public water system.

Backflow happens when water flows in the opposite direction in the pipes carrying potable water.  If water pressure drops below that of the connected piping system, contaminants could enter the public water system.
